DANCE-ARTISTS

Improv & Choreography

Dive into improvisation techniques to open your movement potential in both body and mind. Choreographers and Movement philosophies will be studied in detail to build the groundwork for improv and choreography techniques. Choreographers include (but not limited to) William Forsythe, Rudolf von Laban, Matthew Bourn, and Liz Lerman.

In addition we will practice distilling our choreographic ideas first, then explore how to express that idea through movement, voice, light, sound, and technology.

take a look

In a series of workshops, we will dig into the history of dance through studying influential choreographers from our past. These choreographers strongly impacted the field of dance to establish the art as an important element to American society. Throughout the series we will continue to ask the question – What does our work as dancers and choreographers add to the evolution of our inherited dance legacy?

Choreographers we study: Isadora Duncan, Balanchine, Martha Graham, Trisha brown / Judson Church, Cunningham, William Forsythe, and Liz Lerman.

getting the goal

Dance training requires focus and dedication. However, sometimes we forget that achieving our goals take time. Just like taking a class every week, learning to set long-term goals takes skills and practice. In this workshop, dancers will learn a series of tools that help clarify goals and how to follow through with the action steps needed to arrive at their desired destination.
